We are delighted to announce that Trevor Chappell has been elected a National Life Member of the New Zealand Deerstalkers Association at our 78th Conference over the weekend in Lower Hutt.
Trevor, who is associated with the Te Awamutu and Taupo branches and is already a Life Member of the Taupo branch, is well known throughout our NZDA network. His election to National Life Membership recognises a lifetime of voluntary service, leadership, and commitment to our Association.
One of Trevor’s most significant contributions, perhaps, came at the 2018 NZDA Conference in Wellington, when he was elected as National President from the floor by delegates, when no person was willing to stand and take on the challenges and issues facing our Association and its operations at the time. Well, Trevor stood and delivered, and we are thankful for his leadership and vision.
Trevor went on to lead an important period of change and modernisation for NZDA. During his presidency, he helped introduce the Association’s new logo and branding, which is now much loved and recognised, encouraged a more positive and forward-looking organisational culture, and was instrumental in the appointment of Chief Executive Gwyn Thurlow in 2020.
These achievements form only part of Trevor’s contribution. Over many years, he has generously given his time, experience and energy to support NZDA, its branches and its members.
Life Membership is a small but important token of recognition for the considerable voluntary work and effort Trevor has contributed to our Association over a lifetime.
